Just sent this email to the DOE. If we don't speak up, they will test this weapon. They lied to us about the effects before and they are lying to us now. The half-life of the radioactive material is hundreds of years. The only way to stop this test is by letting them know how you feel.
Dear Sir/Madam
It's no wonder that a majority of the general public no longer trusts the government. How could you possibly consider doing this test in an area where it will affect the general public? You guys are supposed to care about the public. If this test is conducted, I believe that there will be a public outcry and people (myself included) will join together and see to it that the public officials responsible are voted out of office. I would have never believed that my own government would do something so incredible stupid and risk so many it's citizens health and safety.
If the government and the DOE is so intent on testing this weapon, here is my suggestion. Find an enemy to drop it on and then send in the interested parties to do their evaluations. This would accomplish two objectives: 1. You would drop the weapon on an enemy, instead of the American Public and 2. All of the interested parties (scientist, politicians and weapons dealers) could get an all-expense paid field trip. I'm sure the people there would welcome you with open arms.
