Trolley Square - It was only a shotgun!?!

So, the bad guy comes in with a shotgun to kill people.  Shotgun's are hunting guns for goose & duck or recreation guns for sporting clays or trap/skeet.

What happened to the terrible assault weapons - AK-47, SKS, or some other ugly black gun?  This wasn't even a Glock, a revolver, or some other semi-auto handgun.

And then an off-duty cop going to the mall on his own time is the one that essentially stops the killing spree and holds the criminal up until the on-duty police show up.  Could just have easily been a legally armed citizen, maybe even one of the victims, that could have shot back and stopped this guy.

I think all Utah citizens should exercise their rights to freedom freedom and fear and get their CCW.  Liberty tastes pretty sweet and hiding helplessly while others are dieing around you is bitter.

And I sure hope that the U of U administrators realize that the students and faculty face the real possibility of this happening on their campus if they disarm their students.  Another whacko will seek the media attention this jerk received at some point in time.

    Amen !!!! Very valid statement!!!!

A note to the public who are concerned about lawful people that legally carry hand guns, the hero in this situation did happen to be a off duty officer who did an outstanding job, but the public should be aware that the majority of ccw holders would have done the same thing to protect themselves , their family and the stranger next to them in the mall. Yes we are not law enforcement but when a threat arises people must act.

What if it were a ccw holder that helped law enforcement in the critical moments of  taking down the shooter. The ccw holder would not have had the oppertunity to shout out OPD, OPD thus further endangering his own life, but I and many others would still have reacted. Its a scary thought for the permit holder ; to be shot by friendly fire is a very possible scenerio.

We are citizens, nieghbors, co workers, lawyers, cops, we are all the same. I can only hope that people get educated about firearms , put teeth in laws, and truley punish criminals for their actions [ instead of attempting to take away our gun rights ].
