MOUTH WATERING “SLIDERS”

In the “good ole days” people growing up in the Midwest and East Coast areas may remember heading for those little white fast food restaurants called White Castle.  They still exist, but for some reason have never hit Utah or anyplace nearby.  College kids would go out to bars and when closing time would hit, they would head for a White Castle to order a bag full of sliders….maybe 20 or so.  For those you who never had the taste treat, (maybe it wasn’t so good, but it sure seemed like it was), Sliders were little, I mean little, squares of meat that were steamed on a grill, smothered with cheese and onions, then put in a little bun.  You can buy them here frozen at most grocery stores, but they just don’t seem to taste the way they did at a REAL White Castle.

Here’s my whole point of writing this blog.  The other day I went to one of Salt Lake’s finest downtown restaurants and they are offering Sliders.  At the Metropolitan Restaurant on 3rd south across from P.F. Chang’s, we are talking SLIDERS, but we are not talking White Castle Sliders.   These are called Kobe Beef Sliders and they are perhaps one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth:  A beautiful piece of Kobe beef.  For those of you who don’t know, Kobe cows are raised in Japan.  They are pampered with the best food, even massaged every night so their meat is tender and wonderful.  At the Metropolitan you get three Sliders for 8 dollars.  That includes homemade ketchup, covered with caramelized onions stuffed in fresh baked rolls.  It’s part of their Bar Bites menu that features reasonably priced comfort food.

If you want to try to re-live your young years from the Midwest, stop in and try the Kobe beef Sliders.  If you love good beef and the most wonderful, bite size burgers you have ever tasted, you will walk out with a huge smile.  I am so hot on these, that if you try them and don’t like them, I will compensate your 8 dollars.  If you are vegan, exit this blog immediately.

One more thing, I don’t get anything like this free, I pay for it.  That means this is from my heart and my belly and you can trust my opinion.
