Today on Good Things Utah, my dear friend and incredible cook, Angel Shannon showed us a great viewer's recipe called Peanut Blossoms. They are fabulous cookies that have a piece of candy, a chocolate kiss or an M&M in the middle. The cookies were part of our cooking segment for 9-11. It was for cookies to send to the troops and how to go about doing that the best way so the cookies don't crumble or break and can get to our troops just like they came out of the oven. If you go to our Good Things Utah website, there are directions on how to best send the cookies to our hard working men and women serving our country, along with the cookie recipe. So, bake some and send some, sometime getting a little taste of home is welcome for those who are far away.
I loved the Peanut Blossom recipe, because it was one my Grandma Sally used to make in her North Dakota kitchen. My Aunt Colleen and my mom also make those cookies, so it was a taste that brought back memories for me. I think those recipes that we share in our families are treasures. My Grandma Sally was a true treasure to me and I miss her everyday. If there was ever anyone that I would have liked to have seen how my career went, it would have been my Grandma Sally. She was beautiful into her eighties and she is truly missed. So a simple recipe in the Good Things kitchen was a Good Thing for me today, full of memories.
