Last week: 11-5(69%)
Against-the-spread: 6-10(38%)
Season total: 109-67(62%)
Season ATS: 72-89(45%)
Lock-of-the-week: 9-5-1(63%)
Forget the point spread. If you're gambling with me just stick with the lock of the week. I told you that was too many points, even for the Patriots. Also, I'd like to thank Philly for making New England human again. Now I'm not afraid of the Pack making the SB like I was last week.
Green Bay(10-1) at Dallas(10-1)
The big one. The biggest regular season game other than the 'game of the century'. Can the Pack pull it out? Not on the road. Cowboys 33, Pack 28
Houston(5-6) at Tennessee(6-5)
This is the week. Vince Young shakes off the Madden-jinx and battles for a win again. Titans 17, Texans 7
San Diego(6-5) at Kansas City(4-7)
Don't look now, but the Chargers are all alone in first place. It sure didn't take them long to bounce back from that brutal start. A win in KC would put them in the driver's seat for the stretch run. Bolts 31, Chefs 24
NY Jets(2-9) at Miami(0-11)
John Beck played fine on Monday night. No big turnovers in the middle of a monsoon. He'll get that elusive first win this week. Phins 13, Jets 3
Seattle(7-4) at Philadelphia(5-6)
After that impressive performance(they still lost) on Sunday Night, the Eagles might become the hot NFC pick. Eagles 37, Hawks 25
San Francisco(3-8) at Carolina(4-7)
Would you pay to watch this game? Me neither. Panthers 17, Niners 10
Jacksonville(8-3) at Indianapolis(9-2)
Now here's a game that deserves my money and attention. Colts 33, Jags 27
Atlanta(3-8) at St. Louis(2-9)
Oh, jeez. With questions at QB, I guess I'll go with the dirty birds. Falcons 31, Rams 30
Detroit(6-5) at Minnesota(5-6)
Two teams headed in opposite directions. But its time for the Vikings QB shortcomings to bite them in the Upset Special #1: Loins 27, Vikes 26
Buffalo(5-6) at Washington(5-6)
This will be an emotional game for Washington, playing without their defensive leader Sean Taylor, who was tragically shot and killed this week. Washington 14, Bills 10
Cleveland(7-4) at Arizona(5-6)
This game looks like a total toss up. But, if they couldn't stop the Niners, I don't think the Cards defense will be able to do much with Derek Anderson. Browns 22, Cards 14
Tampa Bay(7-4) at New Orleans(5-6)
A tough call, but the Buccs have been manufacturing wins all year long. Upset Special #2: Buccs 10, Saints 9
Denver(5-6) at Oakland(3-8)
The Broncos really choked last week against the Bears. Now they look like a non-playoff team, as opposed to the accidental-playoff team they looked like last week. Broncs 16, Raiders 9
NY Giants(7-4) at Chicago(5-6)
Eli and the Giants couldn't play that poorly two weeks in a row, could they? Well, yes they could, but luckily for them, Rex Grossman may be involved. Giants 16, Bears 14
Cincinnati(4-7) at Pittsburgh(8-3)
The Bengals are finally playing well, while the Steelers have cooled off. It should be a close game, take the points but pick Pitt. Steelers 22, Bengals 17
New England(11-0) at Baltimore(4-7)
Ah yes. Another ridiculous line for the Pats. You know what, I was right last week, lets do it again. Its my Take-it-to-Wendover-lock-of-the-Week: Pats 20, Ravens(+20.5) 13
That's two weeks in a row, the Pats not to cover is the lock-of-the-week. Does anyone else see this N.E. team like those Indy squads that were dominant for about 12 weeks, then cooled off down the stretch and choked in the playoffs? Just asking.

Last week: 11-5(69%)
Against-the-Spread: 6-8(43%)
Season total: 98-62(61%)
Season ATS: 66-79(46%)
Lock-of-the-Week: 7-4-1(62%)
I have officially thrown up my hands and given up. The spread is just too good this year. The bookies were already rich, but now they are bathing with my dollar bills. To change my luck, as a special holiday bonus, I'm offering not one, not two, but three locks-o' the week. To the picks we go.
Green Bay(9-1) at Detroit(6-4)
The Pack is rolling, thanks to an awesome defense and a circa-1996 era Brett Favre. This week they'll play things close to the vest, and save their good stuff for their showdown with Dallas next week. Pack 9, Loins 6
NY Jets(2-8) at Dallas(9-1)
Speaking of the Cowboys, they should have little trouble with the Jets in this Turkey-Day Classic. Cowboys 31, Jets 9
Indianapolis(8-2) at Atlanta(3-7)
The Colts are struggling, and they are making a habit of playing to the level of their competition. Colts 17, Falcons 14
Tennessee(6-4) at Cincinnati(3-7)
Jinx-alert! Jinx-alert! Upset Special #1: Bengals 30, Titans 26
Oakland(2-8) at Kansas City(4-6)
I'm thankful we're not stuck watching this crap-fest on Thanksgiving. Chefs 35, Raiders 25
Minnesota(4-6) at NY Giants(7-3)
Its almost time to start the Steve Hutchinson-for-MVP-bandwagon. If Chester Taylor Runs for 200 this week, I'm in. Its my first Take-it-to-Wendover-lock-of-the-week: Giants(-7) 44, Vikes 24
New Orleans(4-6) at Carolina(4-6)
Somethings got to give? Upset Special #2: Panthers 17, Saints 14
Houston(5-5) at Cleveland(6-4)
The Browns have shown they're good, now they have to learn how to win ugly. Browns 10, Texans 0
Seattle(6-4) at St. Louis(2-8)
An unstoppable force meets an immovable object. Umm. yeah. Hawks 13, Rams 12
Washington(5-5) at Tampa Bay(6-4)
The Buccs have proven all year that they are a quality club, especially at home. Not championship quality, but quality. Its my second Take-it-to-Wendover-lock-of-the-week: Buccs(-3) 26, Washington 10
Buffalo(5-5) at Jacksonville(7-3)
I think this will be a very close game. The Bills aren't nearly as bad as the Pats made them look on Sunday. Jags 21, Bills 19
San Francisco(2-8) at Arizona(5-5)
Just an awful game. Cards 16, Niners 7
Baltimore(4-6) at San Diego(5-5)
The Chargers are playing awful right now. Luckily for them, the Ravens are even worse. Bolts 17, Ravens 9
Denver(5-5) at Chicago(4-6)
Rex Grossman in the house. Upset Special #3: Broncs 13, Bears 6
Philadelphia(5-5) at New England(10-0)
This is the biggest regular season line I've ever seen. And my third and final Take-it-to-Wendover-lock-of-the-week: Pats 36, Eagles(+22) 27
That's right. The Pats will win but not cover. Bizarre but true.
Miami(0-10) at Pittsburgh(7-3)
John Beck gets his second start. Miami gets its 11th loss. Steelers 35, Phins 12

Wow. That's all I can say. I sucked both straight up and against the spread. Lets get to the lousy picks. On a brighter note: the lock of the week is rolling again.
Last Week: 5-9(36%)
Against-the-spread: 2-11(15%)
Season total: 87-57(60%)
Season ATS: 60-71(46%)
Lock-of-the-Week: 6-4-1(58%)
Tampa Bay(5-4) at Atlanta(3-6)
Worst division in football + home game = Upset Special #1: Falcons 22, Buccs 20
NY Giants(6-3) at Detroit(6-3)
God's Team + good team = God's team goes down. Giants 27, Loins 26
Kansas City(4-5) at Indianapolis(7-2)
2 straight losses + home game = bounce back. Colts 38, Chefs 23
Miami(0-9) at Philadelphia(4-5)
John Beck + 1st Start = Eagles 37, Phins 19
Cleveland(5-4) at Baltimore(4-5)
Struggling team + overrated team = Upset #2: Ravens 21, Browns 13
Arizona(4-5) at Cincinnati(3-6)
Kurt Warner + road game = Bengals 39, Cards 24
Carolina(4-5) at Green Bay(8-1)
97 year old quarterback + Lambeau Field = Pack 44, Panthers 21
Oakland(2-7) at Minnesota(3-6)
bad team + bad team = go with the home team: Vikes 35, Raiders 27
San Diego(5-4) at Jacksonville(6-3)
Phillip Rivers + A good defense at home = the Take-it-to-Wendover-lock-of-the-Week: Jags 42, Bolts 23
New Orleans(4-5) at Houston(4-5)
Mysterious team + road game + Schaub is back = Texans 26, Saints 18
Pittsburgh(7-2) at NY Jets(1-8)
Big Ben + Willie P = More pain for Jets fans: Steelers 37, Jets 26
St Louis(1-8) at San Francisco(2-7)
No Alex Smith + they're due = Upset Special #3: Niners 26, Rams 21
Washington(5-4) at Dallas(8-1)
TO + Romo + Jason Campbell on the road = Cowboys 26, Washington 9
Chicago(4-5) at Seattle(5-4)
Rex Grossman + Road game + good defense = Hawks 20, Bears 13
New England(9-0) at Buffalo(5-4)
Best team ever + red hot(for them) Bills = Pats win, but don't cover: Pats 17, Bills 12
Tennessee(6-3) at Denver(4-5)
Madden Jinx + Mile High - Travis Henry = Broncs 31, Titans 28

Last week: 7-1(88%)
Season total: 371-120(76%)
After my best season ever for picking games, its time for three tricky state finals. Can Layton continue their dream season by upsetting Alta? Will Pine View prove it belongs...again, and beat Timpview? How will Logan play against a Judge team that beat them soundly at home?
Layton vs. Alta
Is it possible the Hawks will have a game-of-the-century hangover? Much like the Colts this week? Possibly. Layton has been awesome, winning 11 straight games against some really good teams. But Shak and the Hawks won't let their big win go to waste. Alta 38, Layton 30
Pine View vs. Timpview
I was very impressed after seeing the Pine View Panthers in person for the first time. The Panthers are a superb team. The only downer is that they are now in the same classification as Timpview. The T-Birds have at least 11 guys who will play college football. When they are called Timpview University, its not that far off. Timpview 35, Pine View 21
Judge Memorial vs. Logan
The Grizzlies hadn't played a great game since early in the season. Then last week they crushed a good Wasatch team. Judge is tough, but I think the Grizz are good enough against the run to get some revenge. Logan 20, Judge Memorial 7

Season total: 82-48(63%)

Lock-of-the-Week: 5-4-1(55%)
What a week for me against the number. That can't continue. But, I'm not gonna fight city hall. I'm picking almost all the favorites to cover this week. That's wacky since the dogs have covered in more than two thirds of all games this season.
Minnesota(3-5) at Green Bay(7-1)
As a Packer fan, I now fear Adrian Peterson like I once feared Randy Moss. But, without a quarterback: Its my Take-it-to-Wendover-lock-of-the-week: Pack(-6) 30, Vikes 10
Denver(3-5) at Kansas City(4-4)
The Broncos are done. Chefs 28, Broncs 19
St. Louis(0-8) at New Orleans(4-4)
Why do I feel the need to remind you every week that the Rams were my Super Bowl pick? Saints 24, Rams 8
Philadelphia(3-5) at Washington(5-3)
Andy Reid should get a book of stamps, because his team has already mailed it in. Washington 28, Eagles 22
Jacksonville(5-3) at Tennessee(6-2)
Or the 'play for the right to get destroyed by the Patriots in the AFC Divisional Round-Bowl'. Titans 26, Jags 10
Buffalo(4-4) at Miami(0-8)
Watch out for the Bills, they could give NE a race in the AFC East. Just kidding. Will John Beck play? Please? Bills 23, Dolphins 14
Cleveland(5-3) at Pittsburgh(6-2)
This is one of those crossroads contender/pretender games for the Browns. I'm going with pretender. Steelers 34, Browns 19
Atlanta(2-6) at Carolina(4-4)
Wow. Do you go with the team with the 56-YOL quarterback, or the team with a QB headed for prison? Close call. Panthers 28, Falcons 12
Cincinnati(2-6) at Baltimore(4-4)
The Ravens are falling apart about now. Too bad the Bengals have already disassembled. Ravens 31, Bengals 26
Dallas(7-1) at NY Giants(6-2)
Its the best game of the week. I've said it before, Eli is not quite ready for prime time. Cowboys 16, Giants 10
Chicago(3-5) at Oakland(2-6)
The only game this week between two sub .500 teams. That makes it the toilet bowl. Upset Special #1: Raiders 10, Bears 6
Detroit(6-2) at Arizona(3-5)
That last one was my first upset of the week. Time for number two. Upset Special #2: Lions 12, Cards 7
Indianapolis(7-1) at San Diego(4-4)
The Chargers badly need this one to regain control of the sketchy AFC West. Not gonna happen. Colts 23, Bolts 14
San Francisco(2-6) at Seattle(4-4)
While the Seahawks are not good, they are 3-1 at home, so: Hawks 28, Niners 21

Lock-of-the-Week: 4-4-1(50%)
It was one of the worst weeks I've ever had against the number. Which means: Bet with me this week, I can't be that bad twice in a row.
San Francisco(2-5) at Atlanta(1-6)
Toilet Bowl. Falcons 15, Niners 10
Denver(3-4) at Detroit(5-2)
Sometime that Detroit offense will slow down. Like this week. Upset Special #1: Broncs 7, Loins 6
Green Bay(6-1) at Kansas City(4-3)
The Pack is already 2-0 against the AFC West. But no NFC team will run the table against AFC opponents this year. Its just a better league. Chefs 17, Pack 14
Jacksonville(5-2) at New Orleans(3-4)
My only upset pick that went right last week was the Jags. Its real tempting to pick them again, but not against a Saints team that has it figured out. Saints 23, Jags 20(OT)
Arizona(3-4) at Tampa Bay(4-4)
I still believe in the Buccs as a good playoff-fringe-ish team. I thought the same thing about the Cards until Kurt Warner's updated deal-with-the-devil expired. Its my Take-it-to-Wendover-Lock-of-the-Week: Buccs(-3.5) 44, Cards 24
Cincinnati(2-5) at Buffalo(3-4)
The Bills have strung together four straight solid games. Why not make it five? Upset Special #2: Bills 32, Bengals 23
Carolina(4-3) at Tennessee(5-2)
Memo to David Carr: If 96-year-old Vinny Testaverde beats you out as the starting QB, you might want to freshen up that resume' for the AFL. Titans 18, Panthers 6
San Diego(4-3) at Minnesota(2-5)
The two best running backs in the league? Maybe, but I'm not ready to crown Adrian Peterson just yet. The Chargers are on a roll, even on the road. Bolts 14, Vikes 9
Washington(4-3) at NY Jets(1-7)
The Jets are starting a new quarterback against a very good defense. Not good. Washington 34, Jets 33
New England(8-0) at Indianapolis(7-0)
Easily the most-anticipated regular season showdown of all time. No matter what happens in this game, I have a strong feeling that the loser will get revenge in the AFC Title game. Upset Special #3: Colts 35, Pats 31
Seattle(4-3) at Cleveland(4-3)
The Browns are 4-3? Is that a misprint like Saturday's Weber State score? Upset Special #4: Hawks 19, Browns 13(OT)
Houston(3-5) at Oakland(2-5)
Houston has gone from a playoff hopeful to an also-ran in a matter of three short weeks. Raiders 20, Texans 17
Dallas(6-1) at Philadelphia(3-4)
Are the Cowboys still the class of the NFC? Maybe. Can I say the Pack, even though I am a fan? But they should win here. Yes, even in Philly. Cowboys 27, Eagles 18
Baltimore(4-3) at Pittsburgh(5-2)
The Ravens have struggled all year, but somehow still have a winning record. But a loss here will all-but kill their division title hopes. Steelers 24, Ravens 23

Last week: 10-4(71%)
Against-the-spread: 6-6(50%)
Season total: 66-37(64%)
Season ATS: 47-46(50%)
Lock-of-the-Week: 3-4-1(44%)
Aargh. No matter how many nice upsets I pick, I never seem to get the right ones. In honor of the Colorado Rockies and their feeble chances in the world series, I'm picking more upsets than ever. And what's the deal with Red Sox fans? Didn't they used to be the lovable losers, not the taunting bandwagon frontrunners. Lame-city.
Detroit(4-2) at Chicago(3-4)
The Bears are back. And as the fan of a fellow NFC North team, I am frightened. Bears 17, Loins 10
Oakland(2-4) at Tennessee(4-2)
These Titans are just grinders. They just find a way to win, even when they don't deserve it. Titans 24, Raiders 9
NY Giants(5-2) vs. Miami(0-7)
Why is the NFL playing regular season games in London? Just wondering. And if we are trying to sell the game overseas, why are we sending the Dolphins? Giants 38, Phins 27
Indianapolis(6-0) at Carolina(4-2)
The Colts are in serious danger of a letdown game on the road, the week before the biggest regular-season game of all time. Upset Special #1: Panthers 35, Colts 34
Pittsburgh(4-2) at Cincinnati(2-4)
Pittsburgh got exposed last week, and they may struggle for a while in the face of eight men in the box on every play. But the Bengals are already planning future arrests for January. Steelers 10, Bengals 7
Cleveland(3-3) at St. Louis(0-7)
It's official. I give up on the Rams. Browns 16, Rams 14
Philadelphia(2-4) at Minnesota(2-4)
Not sure how the Eagles blew that game versus the Bears. But here they'll do it again. Upset Special #2: Vikes 16, Eagles 15
Houston(3-4) at San Diego(3-3)
The Texans blew up for a 27 point fourth quarter last week, yet still lost. Not good. Its my take-it-to-Wendover-lock-of-the-week: Bolts(-10) 37, Texans 14
Washington(4-2) at New England(7-0)
I predict the Patriots will lose sometime this season. Just not this week. Pats 45, Washington 18
Buffalo(2-4) at NY Jets(1-6)
The toilet bowl. Maybe we should have sent this game to London. Jets 10, Bills 3
Jacksonville(4-2) at Tampa Bay(4-3)
Its a close call, but I think the Jags are too good to lose two games in a row. Especially to a team(any team) from the NFC. Upset Special #3: Jags 20, Buccs 18
New Orleans(2-4) at San Francisco(2-4)
Another London Special. Saints 31, Niners 28
Green Bay(5-1) at Denver(3-3)
Ouch. Do I really have to pick against my team? Well they are playing a Denver club, in prime time for the second week in a row, in a sports city re-energized by its first World Series trip. So, yeah. Broncs 31, Pack 21

Well the playoffs are here, and we asked the "experts" who they thought would win the high school playoffs.
Dana Greene
5-A Alta over Layton
4-A Timpview over East
3-A Juan Diego over Logan
2-A Millard over North Summit
1-A Kanab over Enterprise
Wesley Ruff
5-A Alta over Skyline
4-A Timpview over East
3-A Logan over Juan Diego
2-A North Summit over Millard
1-A Kanab over Rich
Kent Rupe
5-A Alta over Layton
4-A Timpview over Pine View
3-A Logan over Cedar City
2-A South Summit over North Summit
1-A Kanab over Rich

5-A
Heart: Layton. Hey, why not? The Lancers can pass, run and play defense. And everyone else will pick Alta or Bingham.
Head(actual pick): Alta over Layton. The Hawks are just too good and too deep, especially if they keep up the balanced attack they used all year.
4-A
Heart: Timpview.
Head: Timpview over East. The T-Birds are like a juco team playing in high school jerseys. Its just not fair. But there are plenty of good teams in 4-A, and equally dominant Timpview teams have been upset in the playoffs plenty.
3-A
Heart: Logan
Head: Logan over Cedar City. 3-A has been impossible to pick all year long, and my pick should prove to be equally bad. Union, Wasatch, Park City, Juan Diego or Judge Memorial could all take the crown as well.
2-A
Heart: North Summit. The Braves haven't lost all year, and their stud running back Dallin Donaldson may be my favorite player to watch this year.
Head: Millard over North Summit. The Eagles will have their hands full, having to beat South and North Summit back-to-back, but they do have the best team.
1-A
Heart: North Sevier. Why not? The best defense in small-school ball held Kanab to just seven. Of course they didn't score any points themselves in that game, so its really gonna be:
Head: Kanab over Rich. Duh. My alma mater is still the class of 1-A, although they will have two tough tests with Duchesne in the semis and probably Rich in the finale.
