I'd first like to issue a collective "Thanks a lot" to pretty much the entire sports media universe. I watch and enjoy the Sopranos. But I don't have HBO(or cable for that matter). What I do is rent the episodes from the library, so I get a good deal(free). It usually takes about eight months for the series' to make their way to DVD. For the most part, I am able to avoid spoilers and see the episodes fresh. Not this year. I will know almost everything that went down. I know that Christopher gets whacked, I know that Phil Leotardo gets his head pancaked, I know that the show will fade to black and I will think my t.v. just died. This has been everywhere. My wife can't watch "the View" without being 'spoiled'. Its just not fair. I guess I could just get HBO so I wouldn't have to whine about it. Nahh.
NBA Tournament
While the NBA Finals have been lame so far, I'm not willing to hand over the title just yet. Remember, the Western team won the first two games at home last year as well, before losing the next four. So its not over yet. And I'm still sticking by my pick, Cavs in 4. Next.
In the NBA Playoffs, the best series seems to take place in the second round just about every year. So why not take the eight teams from each Conference and reseed them based on records. If so, you would make sure that two of the best three teams will have a fair road to the finals.
Here are the seedings for this year:
1 Dallas vs. 16 Orlando
8 Chicago vs. 9 Toronto
4 Detroit vs 13 Golden State
5 Houston vs 12 LA Lakers
2 Phoenix vs 15 Washington
7 Cleveland vs 10 Denver
3 San Antonio vs 14 New Jersey
6 Utah vs 11 Miami
That's the best plan I could come up with. In my version, the Mavs take advantage of an easier road and beat Phoenix in seven in a finals that people actually care about.
