I wrote a long and in-depth baseball preview that somehow got zapped by the computer. So I'll keep this short and sweet, you know, since I care as much about baseball as I do about my underwater basket weaving fantasy team. Although I do care about one thing: national media, please don't jam the Yankees-Sox rivalry down our throats any more. Thanks.
AL Wildcard - Boston Red Sox
Can you say overexposure?
AL West - Oakland A's
Best team in a mediocre division.
AL Central - Detroit Tigers
Best pitching in a good division.
AL East - New York Yankees
Duh.
NL Wildcard - Philadelphia Phillies
Another monster year by Ryan Howard will not be wasted this time.
NL West - Los Angeles Dodgers
Best team in the worst division in baseball.
NL Central - St. Louis Cardinals
Best team in another awful division.
NL East - New York Mets
They're almost like an AL team, which makes them a huge favorite in the putrid National League.
AL Playoffs
The Yankees will struggle in round one with the A's, getting pushed to five games, while the Red Sox will handle the Tigers. Yet another NY-Boston ALCS will be a mismatch this round. Yanks in five.
NL Playoffs
Its all about the Mets. After winning 105 games in the regular season, the other NY team will be pushed to the limit, beating the Dodgers in five in round one, and the Cards in six in the NLCS.
World Series
Another Subway series. Yuk. The Mets will win games one and two in Yankee stadium, and the Bronx Bombers will return the favor by taking three and four at Shea. But David Wright and company will put it together and win game five at home and game six across town to win the championship. That's two in a row for the NL. Alex Rodriguez will go 0-for-the-series and get traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in the postseason. Hey, it could happen.
