December Madness continues! The second round games are here. As always, feel free to post your winners below.
December 2nd
Boise State at Ohio State
The dream season finally ends for the Broncos. While Ohio State may be overmatched against the SEC, I'm not sure BSU could hang with a Heisman trophy winner. I give a slight edge to the Buckeyes in this battle of the two last undefeated teams.
Louisville at LSU
This game will be way closer than you think. But I guess we'll go with the home team, since the SEC looked so impressive in the bowl games.
Auburn at Florida
Speaking of the SEC, how about this rematch? Auburn just edged the Gators at home. Now that we all know Urban is the greatest coach in history, I am sure Florida couldn't possibly lose to the same team twice.
Wisconsin at Michigan
Although I would love to pick my Badgers to make a trip into the final four, the Wolverines beat UW once in Ann Arbor, so they would probably do it again. Oh, what the heck, there is no internet police to bust me for being a homer.
Now that the final four is decided, the bowl season will go on as planned. The only games affected by my plan are the title game, the Sugar Bowl(now Wisconsin vs. Florida in a national semi), another national semi between LSU and Ohio State in the Orange Bowl, the Orange Bowl between Louisville and Wake Forest would have to move to a lower bowl game elsewhere, and the Capital One Bowl would have Notre Dame(filling in for Wisconsin) taking on Arkansas.
The entire bowl system will remain in place, except for those four games. The two semis on January 1st(or 2nd or 3rd) would set up the January 8th title game. The bowl money structure could remain in place, or be scaled back slightly, but the additional playoff games would be a cash cow for the networks. The big guys will get even more money, due to the additional home games and even more tv money. The little guys will get what they've always been asking for, a chance. It will be a 15 game schedule for two teams only(the finalists), which is not much worse than the 14 game schedule conference championship games. Everyone else would be steady at 14 or less games, and not too much.
The time is now. Even Urban Meyer agrees, and he won the whole thing.
