Spiral Notes

Last Week: 14-2(88%)

Against-the-spread: 13-2(87%)

Season Total: 113-96(64%)

Season ATS: (55%)

Lock-of-the-week: 10-4(71%)

Weekly Super Bowl Pick: Ravens 31, Bears 27

Thanks to my loyal readers, who emailed in a correction. My lock of the week was misprinted as 9-5 in last week's version. It was actually 9-4. Now its 10-4. The lock is rolling, and I had one of my best week's ever. 14-and-2 SU and 13-2 ATS, one of these days I am going to be hired away by Vegas, and then my life will turn into a lame version of the movie "Two for the Money". Until then, cash in, because I am just giving away cash up in herr. And my brother is imploding, always a comfort.

Baltimore(9-2) at Cincinnati(6-5)

The Ravens are my SB pick for two straight weeks, but they still can't get any respect. Bengals 19, Ravens 10

San Diego(9-2) at Buffalo(5-6)

While LaDanian Tomlinson may be the MVP of the league, its Phillip Rivers who has been the revelation. It remains to be seen if he will suffer a postseason meltdown like Ben Roethlisberger did after his big rookie season. But for now, Bolts 27, Bills 16

Kansas City(7-4) at Cleveland(3-8)

How about those Chiefs? My surprise pre-season SB pick is coming around, and now they own a tiebreaker with the Broncos. Now they must dispose of those spunky Browns. They will. Its my take-it-to-Wendover-lock-of-the-week: Chefs(-5) 44, Browns 24

Indianapolis(10-1) at Tennessee(4-7)

This game may be a mismatch on paper, but how can you dislike Vince Young and the Titans. They scored 24 in the fourth quarter to dispose of those overrated NYG's. They won't win this game, but they will hang around. Colts 18, Titans 14

Detroit(2-9) at New England(8-3)

Its not the time of year to be betting against Tom Brady. Even their depleted receivers can do damage against Detroit. Pats 34, Loins 18

Atlanta(5-6) at Washington(4-7)

The Falcons got an early start on their yearly implosion. But they still could hang around and make the playoffs in the tremendously bad NFC. Just not in Chris Cooley's house. Washington 25, Falcons 16

Jacksonville(6-5) at Miami(5-6)

Who thought this in-state battle would be a game about four weeks ago? Now its knee deep in playoff implications. Phins 29, Jags 28

Tampa Bay(3-8) at Pittsburgh(4-7)

All right, I am finally ready to write off the 2006 Steelers. After this week. For some reason, I still think the stars could align, and Pitt might get into the playoffs at 9-7. Steelers 29, Buccs 24

Minnesota(5-6) at Chicago(9-2)

As a Packers fan, its nice to see the Bears fall from grace in the national media. But make no mistake, these guys are still tough, and I still like their chances to get out of the NFC. Bears 36, Vikes 24

NY Jets(6-5) at Green Bay(4-7)

Even a Packer fan like myself can't like their playoff chances with a tough schedule and a big hole to dig out of. But we never stop dreaming. That's what kept us going between 1969 and 1997. Jets 14, Pack 8

Arizona(2-9) at St. Louis(5-6)

The Rams are bad. The Cards are much, much worse. Rams 34, Cards 13

San Francisco(5-6) at New Orleans(7-4)

Poor Alex Smith. His playoff hopes taken from him by an Aggie. Too bad. So sad. Saints 34, Niners 31

Houston(3-8) at Oakland(2-9)

Otherwise known as the toilet bowl. But that Raiders defense has its act together, and Oakland is favored for the first time all year. Raiders 17, Texans 3

Dallas(7-4) at NY Giants(6-5)

The Cowboys are now the hot pick to get to the SB from the NFC. But beware, the Giants were the hot pick about six weeks ago. And NY is falling apart at the seams. Cowboys 35, Giants 31

Seattle(7-4) at Denver(7-4)

Jay Cutler has replaced Jake Plummer. This smells like a rookie-gets-worked game. But for some reason, Mike Shanahan seems to rally the troops when they really need a win. Broncs 36, Hawks 32

Carolina(6-5) at Philadelphia(5-6)

You don't really think I'd go with the Eagles on Monday Night, without McNabb, do you? Then you'd be wrong. Upset special: Eagles 11, Panthers 10
