Jeremyball - Weekly HS Picks

Last week: 4-4(50%)

Season total: 369-120(75%)

What a brutal week. I blew both small-school picks(usually my specialty), and two other games that I should have known better. Will things change this round? Maybe, maybe not. I remember going 1-2 in the big school finales last year.

3-A

Bear River vs. Snow Canyon

Both of these teams are absolutely rolling. I have no idea who will win. Snow Canyon has the balance, with Jaden Willard throwing and sophomore superstar Adam Timo running. While Bear River prefers to keep it on the ground mostly, and they have the horses up front to do just that. This game might end in a tie. Okay, maybe not. Bear River 27, Snow Canyon 21(OT)

4-A

Highland vs. Timpview

The Rams had trouble scoring for most of the game against Box Elder. So they could really have issues with the T-Birds ridiculous defense. Timpview is good enough offensively, and Jackson Owen is a workhorse. Timpview 28, Highland 13

5-A

Alta vs. Bingham

What a fantastic way to end the 5-A season. The Miners have been number one for most of the year, while the Hawks have provided fans with the most 'wow' moments. Sausan Shakerin had a rough day versus Bingham in week one, while it was QB Dallin Cutler who kept the Hawks in it. While I'd like to pick Alta, the Miners are just too talented. They have the size of a small college team, and better running backs. Bingham 37, Alta 25

Small schools are your specialty?  When did you come see the Eagles or the Cowboys play during the season?  Did you know that they run the same offense?  But at the state game, Duchesne changed theirs?  Did you notice that Duchesne beat Rich 21-7 at Rich, while Kanab only beat Rich 21-14 at a neutral site?  Did you know that the Eagles have a 180 pound running back who can bench over 320 pounds?  He was the guy tanking Cowboy linebackers all game; you know, 120 yards on 21 carries?  Did you know the Eagle's backs and tight end (and one of their linemen!) are 6 of the 10 fastest people in 1A Track?  The Eagle's linemen are so strong it's scary, which is why the Cowboys had so many yards running up the middle....NOT!  Oh, and you might check with the Kanab quarterbacks on how hard the line can hit; that might have had something to do with those 3 interceptions?
Next year, come see a 1A game instead of just reading the box scores, you might do better.  And remember, the 1A schools have to drive 3 or 4 or 5, or even 6 hours to get to a game, so when they win one on the road, they really mean, on the road!
Anyway, better luck with the big schools.

How about another list of MVP picks, since many of the possibles have been eliminated?

Ask coach Cowan if I was at any Duchesne games. Ask Reinhardt, Bertola, Hoopes, Farnsworth, or Despain if I interviewed them. I know small schools. I know that Kanab's best linebacker didn't play most of the game due to injury. But that doesn't mean I will get every pick right.

Thanks for viewing the site. We will have our MVP's on Hot Ticket High School next Saturday, and our All-State teams the week after that.

And not to suck up or anything, but now that I've seen more of all the teams, I think Duchesne could beat San Juan as well.
