Spiral Notes

By Jeremy Brunner

Last Week: 10-4(71%)

Against the spread: 10-4(71%)

Season total: 82-46(64%)

Season ATS: 70-53-3(57%)

Lock-of-the-week: 8-3(73%)

My incredible season continues. I keep running away from the competition. Even the "experts" can't keep up with me this year. Just keep betting the lock of the week, and reap the benefits.

Cleveland(2-6) at Atlanta(5-3)

The Falcons have to bounce back after laying an egg in Detroit on Sunday. They can't lose to teams this bad two weeks in a row, can they? Falcons 41, Browns 25

San Francisco(3-5) at Detroit(2-6)

Speaking of the Lions, you have to like their chances at home, against Alex Smith and the Niners. Then again, SanFran somehow won last week, even though Smith was awful. Still, Loins 29, Niners 19

Buffalo(3-5) at Indianapolis(8-0)

Forget the Bears, suddenly the Colts are the trendy SB pick. Its hard to believe Indy and Peyton "Sellout" Manning were under the radar, but they were. Not anymore. Colts 38, Bills 16

Green Bay(3-5) at Minnesota(4-4)

Okay, my pipe dreams of a Packer playoff run took a serious shot last weekend. But they can still catch the Vikings in the standings with a win Sunday. And the way Minny is imploding at the seams, Green Bay could win at the Metrodome. Or not, Vikes 40, Pack 24

Washington(3-5) at Philadelphia(4-4)

If anyone thinks the Eagles are a playoff threat, just take a peek at their upcoming schedule. Don McNabb and Co. can ill-afford to lose a winnable home game to Washington. They won't, Eagles 21, Washington 10

Denver(6-2) at Oakland(2-6)

Say what you want about the Raiders, but their defense has been solid lately. And after Javon Walker's fantasy explosion, I expect the Broncos offense to cool off again. Upset Special: Raiders 7, Broncs 6

New Orleans(6-2) at Pittsburgh(2-6)

After losing about three straight games that national talking heads deemed a 'must-win', the Steelers will finally win one of those. Drew Brees is on a roll, but the Sgt. Slaughter and Pittsburgh will get to him just enough. Steelers 24, Saints 22

San Diego(6-2) at Cincinnati(4-4)

The Charges are another one of those hip SB picks. While the Bengals are imploding. Chad Johnson isn't happy, Carson Palmer isn't happy, Ocho Cinco isn't happy. Bolts 24, Bengals 14

Baltimore(6-2) at Tennessee(2-6)

Who could bet against the Ravens after two big wins in a row? This could be a very long day for Vince Young. Then again, Young has been decent at managing games, not trying to do too much. Ravens 23, Titans 20

Kansas City(5-3) at Miami(2-6)

Congrats to Dana Greene, who called his Miami squad's win over the Bears. Its too bad they can't play Chicago every week. Back to reality for the Phish. Its my take-it-to-Wendover-lock-of-the-week: Chefs(-1.5) 40, Phins 25

NY Jets(4-4) at New England(6-2)

Now that they have the Indianapolis game behind them, expect the Pats to start churning out ugly wins week after week. Pats 22, Jets 11

Houston(2-6) at Jacksonville(5-3)

The Byron Leftwich era appears to be over. David Gerrard seems like a capable leader and game manager. He has led the Jags to several wins. Jags 19, Texans 7

Dallas(4-4) at Arizona(1-7)

Which team has more internal problems, T.O. and the Cowboys or Denny Green's hapless Cards? Denny has approval ratings in the clubhouse similar to the president's. Meanwhile Owens keeps talking smack, and then dropping easy balls. Not good. Cowboys 7, Cards 3

St. Louis(4-4) at Seattle(5-3)

This is a huge game in the NFC West. Can the Hawks take a two-game lead without their two star players? The Rams should have a better record, but St. Lou has been masters of losing winnable games. Like this one. Hawks 27, Rams 15

Chicago(7-1) at NY Giants(6-2)

Oh, the game of the week. As Dana Greene so astutely pointed out, 'if the Bears can't even beat the Dolphins..." Even without Michael Strahan, 'da Bears will go down again. Giants 24, Bears 17

Tampa Bay(2-6) at Carolina(4-4)

Another stinker on Monday Night. Speaking of ratings, this game will still do better than most of the World Series games. The NFL is, after all, the real American pastime. Panthers 33, Buccs 19
